PRIVACY POLICY


(In this Policy, “us”, “we” or “our” means Buildingwise Construction Pty Ltd (ACN 606 711 353) and all its related entities.)

We take your privacy seriously and are committed to protecting it.

This Privacy Policy sets out how we do so.

In collecting, using, storing and disclosing your “personal information”, we are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles (APP) under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) (Act).

Your personal information includes your:


Name

Telephone numbers

Images of your property – both pre-and-post construction and including its interior

Details of the products and services we provide to you including their type and cost

Mailing or street address

Date of birth

Information you provide us through customer surveys/feedback

Details of enquires you make about our services

Email address

Credit card details

Images of as-constructed/built design details

Any additional information you provide to us through our website, social media accounts or apps

Bank account details

Images of your likeness

Any other information that might be required in order to facilitate your dealings with us

Your device ID, device type, geo-location information, computer, connection, IP address and standard web log information


The personal information we collect is usually given by you at the time you enquire of or request our services, as your matter progresses and sometimes after your matter is finalised. If you choose to give us feedback at a later time, that information may also be collected.

We might also collect your personal information when you apply for a job with us. (Our employees’ records however, do not apply to this Privacy Policy and are exempt from the Act.)

We collect information through our website, social media accounts (including Facebook & Instagram), by electronic, telephonic, written and verbal communications with you.

We will collect, hold, use and/or disclose that personal information:

  • amongst ourselves – in our day-to-day operations;
  • with our banking institutions – for the purpose of processing payments;
  • with government agencies or bodies – where necessary;
  • with our data storage providers;
  • with other professional services – as and where required;
  • to enable you to access and use our services and conversely – for us to provide optimised services to you;
  • to third parties in the proper provision of our services – such as engineers, suppliers and trades;
  • to send you other information about our services;
  • to comply with our contractual and legal obligations – including for dispute resolution and enforcement purposes;
  • to consider any employment application made by you; and
  • for other purposes required or permitted by law.


Basically, we try only to collect the personal information we need and we will only share it to coordinate our services for you.

(We won’t however, ask you for ‘sensitive’ information – matters about your health, racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, association memberships, religious beliefs, sexual orientation or criminal history.)


Storage & Security

We necessarily use electronic ‘tools’ and services to provide our services. Those ‘tools’ include: computers (fixed and portable), tablets, mobile phones and devices, software, emails, cloud-platforms and storage.

In some instances we may disclose your personal information outside Australia (for example: to third party software providers, server farms and for cloud storage).

When you provide your personal information to us, you consent to its disclosure outside of Australia and acknowledge that we are not required to ensure that overseas recipients handle that personal information in compliance with the APL and the Act.

We will however, take all reasonable steps to ensure that any overseas recipients deal with your personal information in a way that is consistent with the APP and Act.

We might also hold your personal information in electronic or ‘hard’ copy (or both).

We will take all reasonable steps to protect your personal information from misuse, interference and loss, as well as unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.

In addition, we regularly audit the security of personal information we hold – from both internal and external threats.

We also maintain an audit trail to accurately reflect changes made to your personal information.

Otherwise, your personal information is maintained by us in cloud-based client-sided encrypted storage.


Using our Website and Cookies

We may collect personal information about you when you use and access our website (www.buildingwise.com.au).

We do not use that information though to identify you personally but, how you use (or ‘interact’) with our website – such as the pages you visit, how long you remain there and ‘click-throughs’.

We also use ‘cookies’ – that track your website usage and remember your preferences.

You can disable ‘cookies’ through your internet browser but, that may affect the functionality of our website experience.

If in using ‘cookies’ we gather any of your personal information, it will be treated in accordance with this Privacy Policy.


Direct Marketing – Emails & SMS

By providing your personal information, you agree that we can send you direct marketing from time-to-time about our services – in the form of emails and SMS - under the Act and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth).

Those communications will include an ‘opt-out’ or ‘unsubscribe’ function – that you can use at any time.


Links

Our website may contain ‘links’ – that connect (or direct) you, to another party’s website.

We do this for your convenience.

We do not warrant (or promise) how any linked-third party website deals with your personal information. You should read their Privacy Policies before accessing those sites.


Accessing/Correcting Your Personal Information

You have the right to access personal information we hold about you.

We will need to verify your identity when making such a request.

You can also request an amendment to your personal information – if you think our records contain inaccurate information about you.

If you request an amendment, we must respond within 30 days.

In the unlikely event we refuse to give you access to your personal information - or all of it - or to amend it, we must give you written reasons why.


Complaints

We take your privacy seriously.

If you are not happy with how we have handled your personal information, let us know.

If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can ask for an internal review or you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oiac.gov.au).
